Being one of Efficity's experienced developers, Soumiya has grown alongside the company, and is this month's Gemography Developer Stories recipient.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I'm Soumiya lhasni, I graduated from ENIM engineering school with a computer science degree. I got matched through Gemography to work full-time, and remotely as a Fullstack Developer with a tech startup based in France, called "Efficity". My tech stack involves mainly React, but I also get to work with Django and Python.
What initially drew you to Gemography?
I actually first heard of Gemography back in the "United Remote" era. I was keeping an eye on the company ever since. My initial plan was to join as an intern but then some things happened and came in the way. After leaving my previous job, Gemography was my first go-to option, I searched for available roles and I applied for a Fullstack open role right away.
What was your impression of Gemography?
It’s exactly what I was looking for. You could easily spot the difference between Gemography and other moroccan tech companies. You can feel that people here are actually passionate about what they do, they’re not here just for the paycheck, and witnessing this passion all over the place actually helps me stay motivated.
What are your hobbies?
I like ice skating a lot. I also love watching thrillers, and listening to rock music, mostly alternative.
What was your dream job when you were a kid?
I wanted to be an astronaut ~typical cliché dream job. But on a more serious note, I’ve always been passionate about science.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining the Gemography Talent network?
One word: apply! You have nothing to lose by giving it a go. You actually could be missing a work opportunity that’s just THE right one for you. For me personally, I’ve met so many talented and experienced people, so it’s been a very exciting and rewarding experience.
